Melling 24218
Hydraulic flat tappet camshaft for Ford FE Big Block engines. Stage 2 / Class II profile for stronger street combinations.
Melling 24218 is a hydraulic flat tappet camshaft for Ford FE Big Block engines. The Stage 2 / Class II profile is intended for stronger street combinations with a more noticeable camshaft character and improved mid-range torque.
Application / fitment
The camshaft is intended for selected Ford FE / Big Block engines using hydraulic flat tappet lifters. Do not mix this FE application with Ford 429/460 engines, which are a different Big Block Ford family with a different valvetrain layout.
- Ford FE / Big Block 352 CID
- Ford FE / Big Block 360 CID
- Ford FE / Big Block 390 CID
- Ford FE / Big Block 410 CID
- Ford FE / Big Block 427 CID
- Ford FE / Big Block 428 CID
Typical automotive applications include selected Ford and Mercury models with FE engines from approximately 1961–1976, such as Ford Galaxie, Fairlane, Torino, Ranchero, Thunderbird, FE Mustang, Ford F-Series and Mercury Monterey, Montclair, Park Lane, Cougar and Cyclone. Final compatibility must be confirmed by FE block, lifter type, valve springs, rocker arm ratio and engine compression.
With a Stage 2 / Class II profile, check valve spring pressure, coil bind clearance, valvetrain geometry, piston-to-valve clearance and the flat tappet camshaft break-in procedure.
