MAHLE SS45949 is a set of eight FPM valve stem seals for selected Chrysler HEMI engines. The positive-stop seals meter oil at the valve guides and help limit oil entry into the combustion chambers.
Application / fitment
The number is catalogued for selected Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram vehicles, mainly 5.7 HEMI applications from approximately 2003–2008 and certain 6.1 HEMI applications. Depending on the engine, this seal may be used on intake and exhaust valves or at a specified position. The package contains eight seals, so a complete 16-valve V8 may require two packages.

Confirm the seal position by engine code and determine whether eight or sixteen seals are required. Protect the sealing lip from the valve-lock grooves and press the seal on squarely with a correct tool. Excessive valve-guide clearance requires repair and cannot be corrected by installing new seals.
