Fel-Pro BS400961, also written BS 40096-1, is a two-piece rubber rear main crankshaft seal. The two halves install in the block and rear main-bearing cap without removing the crankshaft from the engine.
Application / fitment
The set is cataloged primarily for classic Chevrolet big-block engines using a two-piece rear main seal, approximately 1965–1990. Applications include selected 366, 396, 402, 427 and 454 CID Chevrolet, GMC and marine engines.

It does not fit blocks designed for a one-piece rear main seal. Confirm the block year and seal design, inspect the crankshaft surface and orient the seal lip correctly before installation. Offset the seal parting lines from the bearing-cap parting line when required by the installation instructions.
