MELLING P20L

Melling P20L is an oil pump gear thrust plate kit. The part works at the oil pump gear end face and is used to restore the thrust surface and control gear end clearance inside the pump.

Application / fitment

The kit is intended for selected Melling oil pumps used on classic Chevrolet V8 4.3 / 262, 4.9 / 302, 5.0 / 305, 5.4 / 327 and 5.7 / 350 engines when the pump catalogue or removed part calls for P20L / P-20L. Compatibility must be checked by oil pump number, plate shape, hole pattern, screw or pin style and pump gear end clearance.

Before installation, clean the pump body, inspect gear wear, check the thrust surface for flatness and measure gear end clearance according to the service procedure for the specific pump. If the gears or pump body are deeply scored, replacing only the thrust plate may not restore correct oil pressure.
