The plug closes the cylinder-deactivation (MDS) solenoid bore in the block valley – the block has four such bores. This is not a freeze plug. The plugs alone do not disable MDS: a conversion also needs non-MDS lifters, a suitable camshaft and an ECU re-tune. Clean the bores and check the seals before fitting.
