Check the block and head for flatness with a straight edge, clean the surfaces and bolt hole threads. Install dry, without sealant, observing the top/front marking. Torque the bolts in the sequence and to the values for the engine. A V8 needs 2 pieces. A thin steel gasket raises compression – check piston-to-head clearance. New head bolts are recommended.
