SAP-66179

Proform 66179 / SAP-66179 is a universal chrome-plated alternator mounting spacer designed to be cut to the required length. The steel spacer tube positions the alternator correctly and helps establish proper pulley alignment in custom or classic accessory-drive installations.

Application / fitment

This is a universal component for a 7/16 in mounting bolt. It is commonly cataloged for classic 1955–1968 Chevrolet Small Block 265–350 installations, but it may also be used in other systems when bolt diameter and required spacer length are compatible.

Fitment condition: this is the spacer only, not a complete alternator bracket. Position the alternator, verify pulley-plane alignment and measure the actual mounting gap before cutting. An incorrect spacer length may twist the alternator housing, throw the belt or overload the bearings.

Installation note: cut the tube squarely, deburr it thoroughly and protect the cut edge against corrosion. After tightening the mounting bolt, confirm that the alternator housing is not under stress and that its pulley aligns with the crankshaft and water-pump pulleys.
